Boston Park Advocates presents our annual Parks Forum! Gather with fellow park advocates to hear from the Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, followed by a panel discussion “Advocating for Capital Improvements in Your Park,” and small group discussions on CPA funding, dog parks, and other topics.

2023 Park Walks
Boston Park Advocates is sponsoring a series of park walks this spring, summer and fall, and the first walk is this Sunday, May 7th, at 11:00 am at Dorchester Park. This is a chance to meet other park advocates & neighborhood volunteers, see a beautiful greenspace, and get ideas for the greenspaces in your neighborhood.

The address is 2180 Dorchester Avenue, but parking on Dorchester Avenue is difficult, so the group will be meeting at the bench at the bottom of the stairs leading to the park from the top of Richview Street. Park on Richview.
We will be walking, rain or shine, and feel free to bring your leashed dog to enjoy some exercise. There are places for coffee, brunch, and lunch within walking distance of the park.

Not sure how to work with park staff for improvements in your park? Want to learn the nuts & bolts of the City and State Parks Departments and how they operate? Curious to meet and hear from other park friends groups across the city about how they advocate for their greenspaces?
We’ll hear from the City of Boston Parks & Recreation Department and Mass DCR (Dept of Conservation & Recreation) about how to address your park needs and discuss challenges and opportunities to advocate for our park system.
FREE, light refreshments to kick off the morning, and time for informal discussions between speakers.

How are advocates and agencies working to create a more resilient Boston? During this unprecedented year, we know that despite the value parks have shown during this pandemic, challenges lie ahead. Fortunately, committed leaders have been working for a more resilient future for our parks and city. Join Boston Park Advocates to explore potential strategies to help build resilience block by block.
Boston City Councilor Kenzie Bok (District 8) shared her perspective about needs and opportunities for Boston's green spaces in addressing climate resilience, including the proposed Conservation Corps.
Christopher Cook, Chief of Environment, Energy, and Open Space for the City of Boston provided remarks about funding and the intersectionality of climate resilience, racial equity, and workforce development as they relate to urban green spaces.
